Hmmm... all but the last shot seem good for Costa's. The last one is making me think Anna's x Costa's though. I guess it could be a young male Costa's, though.
Why can it not be a mayfly? That's exactly what they look like, I believe.

I'm not 100% sure, but it kind of looks like a Rufous-tailed Hummingbird.
I see red-buds are blooming! Man, I miss those trees.
Could that back one that's slightly larger be a Marsh Sandpiper?
Just wanted to let you know that's actually a Western Gull. California Gulls would have a smaller beak, lighter wings and back, and yellow/greenish legs.
