It is very strange spotting since the place were we found it is a rural and very apart place. I don't know of this kind of purple tarantula in Puerto Rico. And is almost equally rare for someone to have a foreign specie as a pet. Could it be endemic?
yes it has some missing legs, it was found while catching fresh water shrimp on a small water stream... it lost some legs in the process ... :( we've never seen one of these over here.
