It was cold outside so it was acting sluggish and I felt comfortable to get semi-close still staying out of the striking range, and then I zoomed in a little bit.

Oh I see, I had it close but wrong this is the banded water snake not the broad banded, Nice spotting

This looks allot like the broad banded water snakes I would catch in texas. This site says that they are not native to louisiana but here you can try and ID it. But it is for sure non-venomous
