Thank you for checking! Yes, it's me. I am Daogreer Earth Works. Feel free to buy a print of my magnificent photograph: http://DaogreerEarthWorks.com/tall-trees...
Thanks for narrowing it down for me! The P. ostreatus doesn't grow in the Pacific Northwest, but the P. pulmonarius does.
According to BugGuide.Net, the range for Ellychnia is "all of N. America except for the Pacific Northwest," so this can't be that. I sure wish we had fireflies in the Pacific Northwest...
Thanks, Liam. That would have been my guess, too, but it's always good to have a second opinion.
Well, that's certainly closer than big-old-cricket-thing, which is all I had so far. I'll label it as such until I can confirm something different.
I don't, unfortunately. I just found out about Project Noah about 48 hours ago (and I'm addicted already). Now that I know what it's about, I'll be sure to take future photographs that are better for identification whenever possible. In the past I just went for pretty.
It's similar. Mine is much more flared out, but I don't know if that matters.
It was a long time ago, and this is the only photo I have unfortunately. If I see this kind again I'll inspect more closely.
Sorry, no. This is the closest and clearest shot I have of this one.
