Thank you oxyjack. No I didn't use magnification, I only have a 18-55mm lens and a 55-300 lens, all my pictures are taken with either those. This picture was taken from inside while the gnat was on the outside of the window. I cropped the pictures. I was curious to see a mosquito looking insect in March in Canada

We saw it hide behind the roots of a fallen tree. I tried to photograph it, but it was hiding in the dirt and roots. As I was trying to find where it went, it poked its head on the other side of the roots, where my wife saw it. So we switched places and with her on the other side persuading, it finally came out again.

We were on a boat and as we approached, it immediately jumped into the water. The other photographs came out blurry.

Yes, that colour gave it away, really easy to spot.

I cropped the photo, I caught it as it was flying away from the flower. I took a lot of shots that day.
