A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Thank you. I agree the genus is Tegosa, but I'm also not sure about the species.
I don't know the species, but I know it belongs to the Nymphalidae family. And I think it belongs to the Charaxinae subfamily.
De nada. Você tirou muitas fotos da vida selvagem do Brasil?
This one is actually a by-the-wind sailor. Like the portuguese man o' war, it is also an hydrozoan.
bayucca, thank you for the identification!
This one is not a jellyfish, but a ctenophore (i don't know the species though). I think this is a very cool and beautiful animal. Just by curiosity, at which depth was the photo taken?
This is actually a ctenophore (comb jelly). Although comb jellies are gelatinous and resemble jellyfish, they belong to a different phylum. Ctenophores belong to the phylum Ctenophora and jellyfish to the phylum Cnidaria. A major difference between them is that ctenophores don't have stinging cells.
Nice photo! I don't know what is the species, but it belongs to the Bignoniaceae family. I hope this information helps you identify it.
