This looks like stinging nettle to me too.
Brushing the stems or leaves of this plant will leave you with an uncomfortable burning rash for a few hours. I've also heard that it can be used like bee venom, to treat arthritic pain. Beautiful cactus bloom, never seen a Cactaceae flower with that deep magenta hue.

I disagree with the species suggestion of Aloe, this is definitely an Agave species.
