Mike Stanger Small Lizard
Small Lizard commented on by Mike Stanger Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico14 years ago

This is a very small lizard -- perhaps 3 inches in length. Seen in the El Yunque National Forest, which is a very active/wet rainforest in central Puerto Rico

Mike Stanger Dragonfly
Dragonfly commented on by Mike Stanger Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada14 years ago

I suspect that this dragonfly was close to the end of its life: it sat still for over an hour, very exposed on the sidewalk. Although it eventually did fly away on its own, I was able to get within inches of it without it flying away or looking at all concerned about my presence.

Mike Stanger Stellar Jay sunning itself
Stellar Jay sunning itself commented on by Mike Stanger Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada14 years ago

This blue jay (I believe it's a Stellar Jay) spent about 30 minutes sunning itself in the back yard. At first I thought it was injured, but apparently it was just soaking up the rays

Mike Stanger Eastern Gray Squirrels in back yard
Eastern Gray Squirrels in back yard commented on by Mike Stanger Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada14 years ago

These are black/brown squirrels in our back yard. Taking advantage of the bird feeders' overflow. Up to 5 of them visit during the winter along with 2 or 3 gray squirrels.
