Sneaky little booger! Great Spot Maria
Isn't P. whitmanii primarily an Eastern species while P. johnsoni is central to western US. Just throwing that out there (by no means a Salticid expert :)
Thanks Tiz! I did some searching and I believe it is Arizona Monkshood (Aconitum infectum Greene).
Creepy and Cool at the same time! What a jaw he has/had on him. Do you think it may have been grabbed by an eagle or osprey and dropped there?
Thanks Manuljie, I woke up this morning to a lot of dew and fog and these appeared all over my yard!
Cool find! Your bark scorpions look much darker than our Centruroides sculpturatus here in AZ. Actually, I wasn't aware that there were more Centruroides out there. Good luck on your masters and thanks for not squashing this mamma :)
Awesome picture Urek! Dont have a clue as to an ID though...
Thanks Jack! good call. I'm definitely going with the female Phidippus johnsoni as its coloration is a perfect match and the distribution of the western US fits. The other species you mentioned is East Coast and I spotted this in Cali. Thanks again!
