Thank you Brian38 :) yes, I found it today. I may also have missed 4-5 different types of ant mimicking spiders they were very quick to escape 😊
I guess mainly they mimic ant so that they can avoid predators which normally avoid ants because they are unpalatable and aggressive. They may also mimic ants so that they can get near the ants and prey on them without startling the whole colony. I have noticed the use of ant mimicry to prey on aphids too among the smaller species of ant mimicking spiders. Ants and aphids share symbiotic relationship so aphids are usually not afraid of ants.
