Changed title from "Unknown Species" to "Smooth Newt"
Judging by this page found via Google image search they are young smooth newts.

We don't have salamanders in the UK and only a few types of newt so it should be fairly easy to narrow it down.
Yes thanks Melissa they are cool. Do you think they are lizards? I was guessing that they were newts but I'm not sure. I was hoping someone would help. Our most common newt in the UK is the smooth newt so that's the best bet.
