My guess is Bignonia capreolata, a lovely Texas native growing all around my woods. A photo of the flower would help. Check out the USDA native plants database or Texas NPDb online.
This actually appears to be Erythrina herbacea (Leguminosae). I know it as "coral bean," but among other common names is "red cardinal flower." I have both this and Lobelia cardinalis in my natives garden. They're both striking flowers! I met the coral bean in Florida but it grows here in Texas, also. For verification, one source is the Texas Native Plants Database (aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu).
