Unfortunately I didn't have the time to stay and see. I watched it for about 15 minutes and it wasn't making much progress. I bet it did eventually though, snakes always surprise me with how large of prey items they can consume.
Not really. The snake sat calmly while I photographed it and slithered away into the brush once I stepped away. They're not a particularly aggressive species.
