birdterp Eurasian Collared Dove
Eurasian Collared Dove commented on by birdterp Oregon, USA12 years ago

Eurasian collared doves are becoming more frequent across North America. The black ring on the back of the neck distinguishes it from the mourning dove, which has more of a black cheek smudge.

birdterp Mallard

Female wood ducks have a distinctive white tear drop shape around the eye. I think these are female mallards.

birdterp Song sparrow

There is a lot of regional variation in Song Sparrows but I think this is one. it seems pale but I'm more used to the western subspecies.

I'm not 100% sure of my ID because I don't know the birds of Peru, but that's sure what it looks like to me.

birdterp Herring Gull
Herring Gull commented on by birdterp Québec, Canada12 years ago

Sorry but I think you missed this ID. :(

Herring Gull is larger, with pinkish legs in adult, no black ring around bill, and red spot on lower mandible.

birdterp Ducks
Ducks commented on by birdterp Lincoln, Nebraska, USA12 years ago

They look like females but are males in eclipse plummage. notice the yellow bills? Females have orange bills. They will return to their more familiar coloration in the fall.
