hi mate, i think it's a young Amadou, amadouvier or polypore marginé we call it. Nice ones anyway, was it growing on an oak tree?

Actually, in this portion of forest, there had been a fire not so long ago, and the rest of nature was pretty poor, it was one of the rare flowers around, appart from the orchids, which some need fire as well to prosper ; )

Martin, i've spent quite bit of time in sout WA, and the shark touthed Acacia flowering there, reminded me my home Mimosa !
I was actually involved in a dieback project there : still lots to do to save your biodiversity endangered !

we call it Mimosa in France, beautifull smell when it's flowering, my favorite. I've an acacia tree like this, as big as an oak tree in the garden. But if you cut it, it's roots will spread very quickly indeed.
