This is a grub, that is a larvae to some type of beetle.
Although Norfolk Island Pine is common name, it isn't really a pine.
I don't know the identity of the insect in the photo. It doesn't look like a cucumber beetle to me. I'll try to post a photo of what I call a striped cucumber beetle soon.

It's some type of praying mantis. Cool! Did you really spot it in February? How unusual.
Thanks Yasser. We lost about half the plants, but we had a pretty good harvest before the plants collapsed.
This is probably a cockroach egg sac.
It is probably in the mint family.
