Arun, you mean to say, we can't be sure until we check out the root? After all, it could be Curcuma longa, which is quite common here in the Philippines.

I'll probably upload the last 4 photos as a different spotting. I'm also convinced they are Melastoma malabathricum, also known as Malatungaw/Malatungao or Supsop here in the Philippines.
Don't you think they're the same specie? I think the 1st photo is a young flower plant of the same kind. It's just about 5-7 inches tall from the ground, growing not far from the last 4 photos.
