jabsum67 Fluted Black Elfin Saddle
Fluted Black Elfin Saddle commented on by jabsum67 Washington, USA3 years ago

I may have this (or a very similar species) in my front yard right now (1/10/2021) just inside the north city limits of Seattle. They first appeared last winter (2019/20), coming up in late November or December, and stayed until the heavy snowfall in January. Reappeared this winter in December (2020), and still present in mid-January 2021. These are under a conifer, but that location is also on top of the roots of a boxwood hedge that died out about a decade ago.

I have these (or a closely related species) in my front yard, just inside the north city limits of Seattle. They have shown up two winters running now, first appearing in December 2019, and they vanished with the big snowfall about a month later. They again appeared in December 2020; they're still there in early January 2021. They are under a relatively young conifer tree, but they are also on top of the roots of a boxwood hedge that died out (and the above-ground parts removed) about a decade ago.
