Thanks Vō Anh Tuãn
that is SO wild Ornithoptera! Thank you so much. I've been googling and never would have thought that was the end result!
Thank you Brian!
Thank you Ornithoptera... I tried to look this one up and got completely turned around!
I was not able to detect a yellow ring, but I wasn't sure of the age of the caterpillar. I'll leave it at sp for now. Thank you!
Thank you both!
Hi, Vo. I did not delete the comment. I received the exact wording in my email notifications from Project Noah and posted it below.
I'm sorry if Google translate provided an incorrect translation. I speak several different languages and understand how challenging it is, and would never shame anyone for an inaccurate translation. I have been reprimanded by people on PN before for things like this (killing something I didn't kill, disturbing a birds nest that I found on the ground, etc). So I'm a little sensitive to comments like this and wanted to make sure it was clear that I did not harm this bug and have a policy of doing my best not to disturb nature.
I'll consider this matter put to rest.
Thank you Ornithoptera
I saw a comment from Vo Ahn Tuan that is not showing up on this post right now. Vo said: "momsavang, Sorry, in my opinion, you should not kill it just to take pictures, use a plastic bag to trap it in a box, take pictures and remember to release it to balance with nature."
I want to assure everyone, that I do not kill any insect or animal unless there is an immediate threat to my family. I go out of my way to make sure that animals and insects are taken care of and I hope that is recognizable in my many submissions to Project Noah. If it wasn't clear in my original post... I returned from vacation to find this Tiger Beetle dead on my kitchen floor. I did not kill it. I don't really even like posting dead insects/animals but I do so for identification purposes on occasion. This happened to be one of those times. Those who interact with nature should understand, that sometimes we find specimens that are intriguing but succumb to nature on their own.
