I found this scorpion near the Christmas Mts. Near the N.W. boundary of Big Bend National Park.
It's Echinocereus for sure. viridiflorus is my best guess for species. There are probably over 30 varieties of this species and without seeing the flower I have to go with russanthus, but I could easily be wrong.
This plant is a bromeliad (relative of pineapple) found only in the trans pecos region of TX and northern Chihuahua.
I am going to say he is a diamond back. This picture seems to show multiple rows of small scales between the eyes. A mojave would have 2 rows of larger scales. To my knowledge that is the only dependable way to differentiate between the 2 species. The population densities in this region are pretty much equal between the 2 with the mojave being slightly more common.
Found him near Terlingua, TX. Mojaves are very common there.
This was a wild snake. I razzed him a little to get him to pose for a picture. Found him near Van Horn, Tx
