A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I love nature, both local in my city and far away! My focus is birds and plants.

I think these may be dark eyed junco eggs. I have a picture of them and the nest and coloring of the eggs match this one, as well as being in the same area.
This is still one of my favorite spottings - I am very impressed with the clarity of this shot, the ones I see where I live are so hard to catch standing still. Someone thought me, here on Project Noah, that if the wings are closed/together, like in your picture, it is a damsefly and if the wings are out and open, then it is a dragonfly.
How big is it? What is the habitat? It looks a bit like a muskrat to me, but I am not very familiar with rodents.

Look at the picture of the female mallard (the second in the image strip in the middle of the page) and you'll see that it matches very closely. The mallards are very, very common where I live, so I am used to seeing them and recognizing them.
Picture is blurry, but I'd say this is a Northern Cardinal.
That would be a swallow. The way the nest are made and the ever present mess of drippings and mud.
Thanks for the help, some research on barnacles on the Pacific Northwest gave me the exact species - apparently pretty common.
Thanks for the family name of the butterfly. I was able to narrow it down to Grass Skipper, but not to a specific species.
That is such a funny face/expression!
