Pararguda rufescens
A deep reddish-brown (like the outside of a mud-caked beetroot) moth with a wing span of about 40 mm. Wings and thorax were covered with short soft setae and the trailing edges of the fore wings showed pale scalloping. The underside of the fore and hind wings had a sooty colouring. A pair of modified palps protrude out in front looking like a snout. Antennae on this moth were feathery and a rust brown.
Legs showed thin banding.
Spotted under bright lights on a warm night in a suburban area with many varieties of eucalyptus trees.
Larvae feed on eucalyptus leaves.
Family: Lasiocampidae
A good photograph showing hind wings
