Malacosoma americanum
Social species that forms communal nests in the branches of trees. Tent caterpillars secrete silk from a spinneret wherever they go and frequently used pathways soon bear conspicuous silk trails. As the caterpillars move about the tree, they largely confine their movements to these trails.

I spotted this at Fireman's Park, just a few minutes before I spotted my last spot of the Red Admiral. There were about 3 caterpillars outside of the large nest.
