Phyllotopsis nidulans
If I had a chance to name this gilled mushroom, I would call it a flowering peach fuzz mushroom. It looks like a flower, has the color of a peach; has fuzz like a peach, and feels like a fuzzy ripe peach. It is so cute. The largest is about 6 inches across. If you look to the right, there is a very tiny one starting to grow. This is a mock oyster mushroom and is an agaric, a gilled mushroom species. The Mock Oyster is distributed widely across North America and Europe, although reportedly somewhat rare in the Pacific Northwest,
Mock oyster mushrooms can usually be found clustered on decaying hardwoods and conifers from fall to late winter. This spotting was found on a dead log in the forest at Magnolia Springs State Park, Millen, Georgia
Thank you RandyL for helping to identify this species. Appreciate it. I have made the change.
The "flowering peach fuzz mushroom" it is! A great descriptive name, and as usual, a fantastic spotting. It's bigger than I thought. The photos give the impression of them being very small. So lovely :-)
