Urticating Anthelid

Anthela nicothoe

Description:

A medium sized dusky grey moth about 70mm wingspan. Deep yellow antennae tucked under fore wings at rest. Wings display bands of spots, waves in varying shades of grey and brown. Two larger spots on forewings might be important. Thicker fur around the thorax and head.

Habitat:

Resting under lights an night in the local shool yard.

Notes:

Must check for caterpillar in older spottings
