Description:

Showing off its 'winged keel' this bird shows the participants in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race how it's done! Australia's native Black Swan - red beak tipped with white, some white on wing feathers more often seen in flight, rest of feathers black, call is a series of bugle sounds and guttural short calls. Feeds on aquatic weeds and algae.

Habitat:

Found throughout Australia mostly on permanent water (fresh or salt water) such as lakes, rivers, billabongs and wetlands where it can reach the bottom to feed.
