Description:

Black and white mushroom with large, shaggy scales on the cap. The gills of this mushroom deliquesce as they mature, which means that they turn themselves into black ink. This mushroom was 18cm tall!

Habitat:

Growing on the ground along the edge of a hiking trail in a mostly coniferous forest.
