Description:

This is a large bird, with a wingspan second only to the Andean Condor. It inhabits Central and South Anerica...and was spotted in the Amazon Rain Forest in Peru. This species was considered "near threatened" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in 1988. It is now classified as a species of least concern, and has been granted protected status by the U.S. Migratory Bird Act...per the attached Wikipedia reference.

Habitat:

This bird was spotted in the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve in the Amazon Rain Forest, Peru.
