Amazon Awareness Week Fun Fact! The beautiful scarlet macaw is one of the largest Neotropical parrots. It uses its strong, curved beak to crack open nuts and seeds, using its tongue to extract the kernel. The macaw’s diet sometimes includes substances that are toxic; it is believed that their habit of eating clay from exposed riverbanks neutralizes these toxins, and many thousands of parrots can be observed congregating at “clay-licks” in the Amazon.
Obrigado Antonio, I am flattered... Yes, on Project Noah I am a little bit "fooling around the world" with all my shots. You remember me to take once some time not to ID but posting some new spottings...

Great shot of the beak and foot as well. Macaws are great fun to watch when they are feeding. That beak can do some serious damage!
Thanks Viv!
That's an amazing shot Bayucca!
