Jack spaniard wasp nest

Polistes lanio

Description:

These wasps are a species of paper wasp but the guide was very specific on the name of the wasp and said that is what they call these specific wasps in Trinidad and Tobago. Unfortunately we didnt see any of the wasps as this nest was seen on a night walk around the grounds of Asa Wright's. These are Eusocial neotropical wasps.

Habitat:

Found at Asa Wright's Trinidad, as these are neotropical they can be found anywhere in the caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago and parts of South America.
