Mottled Euchlaena

Euchlaena tigrinaria

Description:

Photo #1 is the underside, backlit from the sun on my library window. Lovely! Photo # 2 & 3 are taken from outside the window. It looked like it was made of softly folded cloth.

Habitat:

Westcoast temperate rainforest, where I live. Lots of trees, grass, gardens, rain, rural and city all mixed together!

Notes:

Would love some help on this one.

Thanks, I am trying to learn more about moths before Moth Week!! Do you have a suggestion of a good moth guide that would cover the families and also the area that I live? the Pacific Northwest?

Thanks Fyn! I just got home from work and was pleased to see that your ID suggestion does match my moth almost perfectly! I was happy to see in your reference that they are in my area. It even has the dots that I was trying to match.

Coloration does not match Nematocampa.

Thanks, Karen. I couldn't find a photo anywhere that looks exactly like mine, with the purplish dots spaced so nicely on the margins, but this is the closest ID I saw. Thanks for your help. Let me know if you find any other photos of this moth.
