Zugana Silkmoth Caterpillar

Automeris zugana

Description:

Beautiful turquoise head caterpillar, eating the Orchid tree (Bahuinia purpurea) in the garden (2 leaves), I found it next day 4 meters away eating a tall sharp grass blade!

Notes:

I have to say that those were 2 Caterpillars, the 3 last pictures is one that it is still munching on the Orchid tree, the other 4 meters away it is munching on grass!?

In the last 12 days, this Zugana Silkmoth Caterpillar, Automeris zugana has grown to 3 and a half inches and it has gotten pretty thick, (finger thick).. : o

Thank you bayucca for the reading/article on lepidopterist Dan Janzen, it was very good.

Thank you so much bayucca, I wrote that ID on my book but was actually waiting for you to ID, I just could not find much information and I wanted to be sure.
