Heraclides erostratus erostratus
Large black Swallowtail Butterfly with a green tinge to the wings on the upper surface. On the upper side, the spots on the hind wings are white. On the underside (second picture) the spots are red. This one had been hit by a car on the highway. Family Papilionidae.
Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
Papilionidae, Heraclides erostratus. Might be the subspecies Heraclides erostratus erostratus reported from Chiapas, but you can leave it as Heraclides erostratus or take the name I suggested.
