About 35mm long. This cerambycid beetle seems to be hiding it's face which is strange for these as mouth parts, eyes and antennae are usually prominent.
Attracted to night lights at the local school.
Searching Cerambycidae... Subfamily Lamiinae.? (downward faces)

I know... Any IDeas of the subfamily? Prioninae? Cerambycinae?
No, it is not that species bayucca
Don't count on officials!! I wasted tons of hours looking for a bug/beetle only to know at the end it was an introduced species/pest! You never know! ;-)...
My guess was a quicky, quite serious, but not as serious having checked all the necessary details. Now, you might enlighten the darkness a little bit more over the weekend, remember: f-u-n...!
Very impressive similarity Doc but officially not in this country and apparently we're doing our best to keep it out. http://www.padil.gov.au/pests-and-diseas... ...It looks so similar though except the antennae are proportionally longer and it has 3 small bumps on the thorax instead of 4. That does it - I'm going to buy a serious beetle book.
Stromatium barbatum, Kulsi Teak Borer??? Just a blind shot into the beetle darkness...

Maybe not, but take it as part of fun ;-)...
Thanks for that input Stephen. I tried to get it to look up but it just wanted to sulk. Next time I'll flip it over :-) ... search modified...
It might not be Lamiinae ... just got its head bent down?
I do like your profile pic Alice. Has the cheetah got a cough?
Oh of course mark! How silly of me, I must have been in another world wheni was looking at that one!!
Thanks for looking at it Alice. I can't find any occurrence of Tragosoma genus in Australia. ?? T depsarium seems to be a foreigner.
Do you think this one could be Tragosoma depsarium?
