Marbled Duck; Cerceta Pardilla

Marmaronetta angustirostris

Description:

A rare breeding species in Spain where numbers have drastically reduced due to loss of habitat over the last century. Recently there has been a slight recovery from a reported low of about 200 birds. There were 2 here but I think they were both males, the female has a yellow bill base but is otherwise similar to the male.

Habitat:

Coastal marshes.
