Hairy lentinus

Lentinus levis

Description:

Large, cream colored mushrooms growing out of the tree wound of a box elder tree (I think?). Gills are decurrent. The largest mushroom was around 10 inch diameter. Smells pleasantly sweet and slightly of anise. This is an aged specimen.

Habitat:

Growing out of a box elder tree wound in a dense mixed hardwood forest.
