Serinus serinus
A tiny, well-marked finch. Male has bright yellow head, breast and rump. Plumage otherwise streaked greenish-brown; shows two pale wingbars, forked tale and stubby bill. Female and juvenile are similar but colours are more subdued. Male sings jingling songs and calls include distinctive 'tirililit', similar in pitch to call of pied wagtail.
Favours orchards, open forests and mature gardens. Widespread throughout the region.
