Garter snakes are very thin snakes. None grow over about 4 feet long and most stay smaller. Most have longitudinal stripes in many different colors. Garters come in a wide range of colors including: green, blue, yellow, gold, red, orange, brown, and black
forests, fields, and prairies to streams, wetlands, meadows, marshes, and ponds, and it is often found near water.

Spelling of scientific names is important as researchers would not be able to find your spotting based on how you have it spelled now. Correct spelling is T. sirtalis :)
