The male shows black feathers whereas the female shows brown feathers.
Ostrich was once farmed for its feathers in the Little Karoo area of Cape Province. It is now for the leather and meat.

It must be rewarding to spot the majestic bird in the wilderness...I have seen one in the zoo only..
