I am not sure this is a Brandt's cormorant. The yellow patch looks too bright for it. And the tail is rather long. I was in agrement that it could be p.a. albociliatus which is smaller than the other sub species and breeds on the west coast.

The species suggestion of phalacrocorax auritus is correct. I was looking at the wrong species in my bird book...my bad. :)

Joseph the ones which are usually seen here are,Phalacrocorax auritus.
So this is a different one then.

I will have to look that up yo see if it is any different than the usual ones. I thought that these were smaller than the once which frequent this pond.
