Spotted Xenia Pipefish

Siokunichthys herrei

Description:

This Spotted Xenia Pipefish - Siokunichthys herrei is small in size, around 7-8 cm in length but very slender (around 3-4 mm thickness). The body is mostly white in colour with some brownish markings on its head which camouflage perfectly with its host, the Xenia Corals. This was a special find for me, a rarity, and was lucky to see a pair. They looks quite similar to Siokunichthys bentuviai, which is recorded from Red Sea.
