Common Musk Turtle/Stinkpot

Sternotherus odoratus

Notes:

I saw this male stinkpot basking on a log, which is not as common a sighting as seeing a red ear or a painted turtle basking. When I got closer he jumped in the water and hung out in the shallow waters. I had to grab him up out of the water real quick to snap a couple pictures and then I put him back to live out the rest of his days in the lake.

Thanks for checking out the site. Yeah when I saw this guy hop in the water I knew it was worth getting a little wet to snag him for a pic.
