Red-backed Salamander

Plethodon cinereus

Description:

Two red-backed salamanders in the Lake Erie watershed.

Habitat:

Damp leaf litter.

Notes:

We find these regularly in oak leaf litter, in the compost and under rocks. Have spotted two already this spring. Our area is somewhat damp since there are springs in the area.
