Four-Armed Chocolate Chip Sea Star

Protoreaster nodosus

Description:

This chocolate chip sea star has an anomaly. It is only 4-armed instead of 5-armed. 6-armed anomaly may also occur. This one is light tanned, just the same color as a cookie dough.

Habitat:

I found this during low tide, in an area where marine plants start to grow.

Notes:

LOCATION: Nalusuan Island, Cordova, Mactan, Cebu I did not personally take this photo, but I owned those hands that held the seastar in this pic. :-)
