Ichneumon wasps come in all sizes. Adults can sting and are frequently encountered around lights in and around the home. Most ichneumons are smaller parasitic wasps, like this one. Your odds of being injured are small, but they do have a stinger. Often gardeners kill the small ones with the very long stingers, not realizing they are relatively harmless and the long stinger is an adaptation for the job they do. My comment was a caution about puncture wounds in general. I know many gardeners who get into trouble with that type of wound. Sorry if I scared anyone.
A note of caution. Wasps stings can, because they are a puncture wound, introduce bacteria. Always clean a wound and a bit of over the counter anti- bacterial does no harm. Baking soda for itch always helps.

I didn't realize these stung, although I guess it makes sense that they do!

Maybe itch and swell a little...apply a baking soda paste (baking soda and water) to stop any itching and pain.
Um, I got stung by something that looks like this, any idea what the stung area might do?
