Black-tipped Ground Skimmer

Diplacodes nebulosa

Description:

Small, greyish black dragonfly with black tipped transparent wings. The dark colour means it is a male.

Habitat:

Flying in a neglected space behind my office. It settled on a grassy plant inside a freshwater drain (dry today)

Notes:

It looked jet black to my eyes. Even the wing patches looked black. The camera disagrees. According to my guidebook this is an uncommon butterfly.
