Thai Mountain Crab

Stelomon pruinosum

Description:

about 6" total width, I was told by a guide at the park that this was Stelomon kanchanaburiense, but it doesn't look like the photos I see online, so I'm going with S. pruinosum, as achmmad's suggestion.

Habitat:

tropical freshwater

Notes:

I spotted this crab and many other right near the campsite at Sai Yok National Park. I went to the park hoping to see an endemic species of crab but turns out it is only found deep in the park. I had to settle with these! I did a nightwalk in the streams surrounding my tent and found many crabs. The small purple ones are juveniles of the same species.
