Pirate Wolf Spider

Pirata piraticus

Description:

Female is 6-9 mm in length with male being slightly smaller. Light yellow band runs down each side with a dark "Y" or "V" shape on back of carapace.

Habitat:

This is the smallest of the northern Minnesota wolf spiders. It is often found near water. I found this one on a down tree trunk just a couple of meters from a large pond.
