Description:

Looks like a Bumble bee and is approximately the same size.

Habitat:

Raw wood on buildings where it make a tunnel for its nest. Tunnel opening is lower than or level with tunnel.

Notes:

This pair had been staying at our garden potting area causing concern for wood and body.

For future reference, the male carpenter bees are stingless and the females are fairly docile. They are no danger to humans or other animals.
