African Collared Dove

Streptopelia roseogrisea

Description:

An Afircan collared dove at Sedgwick. Can't find much on this species, there's a school of thought that this is the wild ancestor to the barbary dove. However that title could also go to the European collared dove. The African collared dove can hybridize with the barbary dove, so that's interesting.

Habitat:

Native to the Sahel, parts of the Horn of Africa, and Southwestern Arabia.
